AFTER THE FARM

After you've picked your berries, you'll have very important decisions to make. What are you going to do with all of that delicious fruit? Before you make any decisions, Omi will tell you to make sure you don't let the sun hit the berries as you travel back home in your car. Sun on your berries is the fastest way to turn them into blackberry juice. The berries will last for 2-3 days in your refrigerator so if you need a little extra time, you'll want to freeze them.  Click here for Omi's Freezing Method.

MAKING WITH YOUR BERRIES

There are so many things you can make with your berries. We've tried out quite a few recipes, had a few recommended to us, and just found some that sounded tasty. If you have a recipe you would like to share with us, please fill out the form at the bottom of the page. We love to try new things!

BLACKBERRY CROSTATA
We tried this recipe from "Inspired by Charm" and it is delicious! Add a spoonful of whipped cream or a scoop of ice cream to make it extra special. If you don't want to make your own pie crust, you can combine two frozen crusts and roll them out to make one big enough. Click here for the recipe.

BLACKBERRY SYRUP
This syrup recipe is so easy to make and so versatile. We like to use the syrup on pancakes, waffles, and in blackberry lemonade. It makes quite a bit of syrup so try canning some and giving it as gifts to family and friends. Click here for the recipe.

BLACKBERRY COBBLER
Sometimes we get lucky and very special people share their very special recipes with us. This cobbler is quick to whip up your family will make it disappear just as quickly. Use a 9x13 pan to bake up this delicious dessert.

BLACKBERRY JAM/JELLY
Blackberry jelly is so tasty on biscuits or a peanut butter and jelly sandwich. We like to use Pomona's Universal Pectin (which can be found at Whole Foods/Sprouts/Central Market) because you have more freedom to decide how sweet your jelly will be. If you'd like to make Jam (this contains the blackberry seeds), click here for the recipe. If you'd like to make Jelly, click here.

BLACKBERRY SWIRL MUFFINS
We haven't tried this recipe yet, but a blackberry/muffin combination cannot be anything but delicious. Check out the recipe here.
